REAL CHATS with Aaron Roach

REAL CHATS with Aaron Roach

Aaron Roach lives in Australia with his wife and daughter. He is an avid sports fan and exercise enthusiast. Among other things, he is a vocal mental health advocate.

PROJECT 375: What is your diagnosis?

Aaron: Borderline Personality Disorder

PROJECT 375: Where do you see yourself in five years?

Aaron: Generally, this kind of question used to intimidate me, and I was never sure how to answer it because it was such a long way away. However, with where I am and how stable things are, I see myself spending more time with my wife and daughter, working from home more often and, importantly, being an advocate for mental health, especially BPD. Five years feels like I’ll have the time to prepare for these kinds of milestones.

PROJECT 375: What’s your greatest achievement and how has it shaped you?

Aaron: Connecting with my beautiful wife and daughter more than I ever have. I’ve been so lost in emotions and rollercoasters that I’ve never just been present with them. It’s wonderful, and it’s really helped me bring positivity to my work as well.

PROJECT 375: What would be your perfect day?

Aaron: I’ve been mulling over this for ages! haha

I really want to say something about sports! Brandon Marshall playing for the Redskins, scoring the winning TD in a Super Bowl and giving me the ball…kids always get the balls, but this would be an exception. From there, I’d tell everyone I knew about what had happened, and everybody would know who Brandon Marshall is, and what the Super Bowl is…I’m in Australia, and it’s just not as popular.

PROJECT 375: What makes you happiest?

Aaron: Having the space to soothe myself, and starting every day with any kind of mindful exercise, whether it’s yoga or running, and so on. It’s even better if my daughter is awake and exercising with me. 🙂

PROJECT 375: If you could live in a book, TV show or movie, what would it be?

Aaron: How can anyone possibly go past living in a Chocolate Factory run by Willy Wonka? 😉
